CCA Educational Plan 2021-2022

Updated: 9/8/2021

Please note: This current plan will be monitored and adjusted to align our protocols with state and local authorities as necessary. As before, CCA seeks to conform to the recommendations of said authorities and in concert with the TEA and local school districts in as much as it is feasible.

General Guidelines

  • All staff, visitors, and students (with parental assistance) should monitor for symptoms of illness prior to campus arrival. CCA reserves the right to perform further screenings of signs and symptoms of illness and use this assessment as grounds to refuse a student admission to class on a given day.
  • In agreement with CDC Guidance, CCA highly recommends wearing a mask indoors in public, especially for those who have not been vaccinated, to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus and its variants.
  • CCA will work to ensure no student is treated differently as a result of their choice to wear a mask or not wear a mask.
  • Visitors will be allowed on campus according to standard visiting rules.
  • Social distancing will be maintained when feasible.
  • Staff and students will continue to be expected to wash their hands frequently throughout the day.
  • Parents and employees will continue to be required to report confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 to the front office (214-491-5700; or email). As always, this information will neither be tracked nor reported to any other group or agency. Only a general count of COVID numbers will be available to CCA families.
  • Staff and students with symptoms of COVID 19 (until ruled out) OR a confirmed case of COVID-19 must quarantine for 10 days from the date of symptom onset or positive test if no symptoms.
  • To rule out COVID in those presenting symptoms, the results from a lab-confirmed test, administered on or after the 5th day from the onset of symptoms must be received by the school. The student must also be free of fever for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.
  • Staff will not conduct close contact reviews and students/staff will not be required to quarantine for exposure.
  • Reporting: In conformity to TEA guidelines, CCA will report to its families the total number of reported cases each week through “Week At-a-Glance.”

COVID-19 Isolation Plan

Students Who Display COVID-19 Symptoms:

Step 1: When a student, who is on campus, has displayed symptoms of COVID-19, such as a fever, coughing, shortness of breath, etc., the school administration will determine if and when a student needs to be sent home. Students who begin to present symptoms while not on campus should be reported to the CCA front office and should include the following: name of student, day/time symptoms began, and whether a test has been conducted.

Step 2: The school will consult with the parent to determine the duration of the quarantine and isolation needed for their symptomatic student. The student who has symptoms of COVID-19, may return to campus after the following three conditions have been met:

  1. 10 days have passed since the onset of symptoms AND
  2. Symptoms, not including the lack of taste and smell, have been resolved AND
  3. At least 24 hours have passed with no fever and without the use of fever-reducing medication.

The student may return to campus before the end of the 10-day period only IF a note from a health care provider is received by and discussed with the administration prior to the student’s return.

Step 3: The school will follow up with the student throughout the quarantine and isolation period, as necessary.

Step 4: If the parent of the student reports to the school that the student was tested for COVID-19 and is now lab confirmed positive, the steps for “Students Who Report That They are Lab-Confirmed Positive for COVID-19” will be followed.

Students Who Report That They Are Lab-Confirmed Positive for COVID-19:

Step 1: When a student has been lab-confirmed positive for COVID-19, whether symptomatic or not, the school should be notified of their illness and the student should remain quarantined at home.

Step 2: The student may return to campus once the following criteria have been satisfied:

  1. If asymptomatic: 10 days have passed since the positive COVID lab result.
If student becomes symptomatic: 10 days have passed since the first onset of symptoms. If a student is asymptomatic at the time of the lab test but develops symptoms later, the 10-day quarantine begins at the onset of the symptoms (not the date of the lab test).
  2. All symptoms are resolved (with the exception of loss of taste or smell) or never present themselves.
  3. At least 24 hours have passed with no fever and without the use of fever-reducing medication.
